It’s raining pink (not to mention daggers) in Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me.”

What are we talking about, you ask? Well, Lady Gaga’s second single for Chromatica titled “Rain on Me” is here along with a brand new music video AND it features Ariana Grande. What more could fans ask for, indeed!

Rolling Stone described the new single as rejuvenating “despite the metaphorical bad weather sentiments.” CNN described it as catchy while Vulture said “Rain on Me” is “whatever you need it to be right now.” Refinery29 on the other hand, called it an “anthem for surviving trauma.”

Both singers sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and talked about what working together was like for them. Ariana Grande said, “It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and like straight pop again, because I do feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve done something that poppy.”

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga told Lowe about the song, “This is about an analogy of tears being the rain.” She added, “And you know what it’s also a metaphor for, is the amount of drinking that I was doing to numb myself. I’d rather be dry. I’d rather not be drinking, but I haven’t died yet. I’m still alive. Rain on me. Okay, I’m going to keep on drinking. This song has many layers.” Listen to the interview in full here.

Lady Gaga’s sixth studio album called Chromatica is coming on May 29, 2020. It was originally set for release on April 10 but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Lady Gaga, her upcoming album has a 16-song track list and apart from Ariana Grande, Chromatica also features Elton John and South Korean girl group Blackpink.

The first song of her album titled “Stupid Love” was released way back in February. You can listen to it here.
