Other people pretending to be somebody else on the internet isn’t anything new In fact, it has become so prevalent that we even have a term for it — catfishing.
It’s already concerning to watch another person’s life and photos be used by a completely different person, but to have it happen to you is even more troubling. If you’re an Adam4Adam user who’s discovered that somebody else is using your photos on their profile, or if you want to report an impersonator on Adam4Adam, here are the things you can do to address it.
1- If you’ve discovered a profile that is using your photos on their profile, or you suspect that the photos on that profile are not theirs, click on the “Report this user” button on the profile. Select “Photo violation” and voila. You can also explain to our team what exactly you are reporting. Be as detailed as possible! Our support team will then take down the photos or delete this profile as quickly as possible. Remember that you can also report people using photos of a model, Instagrammer or celebrity.
2. Adam4Adam can still help you out even if that person doesn’t have a profile on Adam4Adam. Reach out to us via Instagram or Facebook and provide us with a detailed report. You can also reach out to us via [email protected] and send us proof of what you say.
Another thing you and other people can to do to avoid this is to have your Adam4Adam account verified. Account verification ensures that the Adam4Adam user on the profile is who they say they are, as well as helping us provide them with an enjoyable experience. It also helps increase a user’s chances of finding a match.
You can get your account verified in just three simple steps!
- After logging in, head to the top menu on the upper left-hand corner of your screen and then select MY ACCOUNT. This will lead you to the My Account Page.
- Once you are on your My Account Page, you will find a “Get Verified” button right beside your username. Clicking that will lead you to a new window.
- On the new window, you will be asked to upload a photo. You can use a photo stored on your phone or computer by clicking “Choose from Computer.” You can also take a picture of yourself at the moment by choosing “Take Photo.” Take note that when you choose the “Take Photo” option, you will be asked to copy a gesture. If your photo follows the gesture, your photo and profile will be verified our a real person in our team. Not a robot.
We hope this helps you guys!
Report any suspicious activity to the powers that be. If any wrong doing is found it will be rectified. A few years back I had an issue with a mo ron using my account and the admin staff took swift action, again I give my thanks.
But what happen when you figure out someone you are talking to is fake? Its not like you can let everyone know that person is a catfish or pic collector.
That’s gotten to be just about daily. Either I get a message from a Suspended profile (hey A4A could you add the lines of programming to remove messages when profiles are deleted?) Or a message from some guy who appears to be North American/local, but has questionable language skills, asks questions fully answered in my profile, asks about “the weather there”, etc.j
that’s why you report them
Nor should you be able to “let everybody know.” Let the support staff sort it out. Otherwise a new problem will crop up – people being slandered.
I condemn the Vermin to The Praetorian Guards of A4A!
Expeditiously and succinctly,
The Praetorian Guards execute the arch enemies of A4A who would, otherwise, bring chaos and ultimate annihilation to The Saviors of those who, daily, attempt a meaningful encounter but, ultimately, try to make a “Silk Purse Out Of A Sow’s Ear!”
The Vermin are out to deny us our playground!
Biggest nuisance on A4A are Nigerian and Ghanan scammers. A4A generally bounces the accounts within minutes when reported. Many are so stupid, they leave their distance indicator on, so if you are someone supposedly in your area that’s 7700 miles away, report as a fraudster and they’ll be gone. A4A has been more successful in ridding us of these scammers than is Grindr, but they’re improving, as well.
So far, it looks like their first goal is to get a phone number for texting.
Thanks for informing us that they are Nigerians and Ghanaians.
If he’s good lookin, hook up with him of course!
The report function is a double bladed sword.
So many angry queens on here who get upset when they get turned out or just to be hateful, will report people and their accounts are deleted with no investigating or verification that the claims are true. That’s why my account is designed to be deposable because this happens all the time.
Same! It’s a slippery slope when the guy at your door could be the overweight father of the guy in the profile pic he sent you when you said,” Yeah, I’ll top you! ” Since you’d rather suffer the Now your the flacid , lame lay, who made someone drive 2 hours but couldn’t get hard . OR!!!OR!! Your the rude stuck up , prick who didn’t even try to have fun. “Like I’m obligated to be turned on by every bottom the moment their anus dilates……. Because now they’ve done their part right ? They flared their cannon ….and… Read more »
I reported an elaborate poser. He got me to chat via email. He showed many pictures, from life, from work, from play. Normally a catfish won’t have such a variety. But then, he asked for money. I turned him down. A day later, I saw a different picture of him in a new profile, which I reported. Then, anothet picture of him on a new profile. I reported to A4A, and my thought that no person would have used his own pictures for a scheme like that, as the police could catch him. So I asked them to check in… Read more »
yes of course, as we want you guys to have a great experience and meet guys and have fun, no hassle.
I have on more than one occasion used google image search and found the person has lied to get a profile together. No i do not have any problems with reporting them. I do the same for men from Ghana and mother Russia. If the person is many miles away and their profile says they’re in kansas city, this is a no brainer. If they are honest about being russian, or from Ghana, i leave them alone. Let the next person deal with it. I will give email out if they want to talk off site. I use a VPN,… Read more »
Make sure to report them…
I have noticed that there has been a dramatic increase in what I believe to be fake profiles created in the past 2 months. They are all in the same city and are hardly online. I don’t think the people creating these are even in the same area. For those who left their share location turned on, they are about 2,000 miles away from the profile location. I think they are up to no good and need to be spanked.
report them!
I have noticed that trend as well. One other thing I have noticed is this: often the age is the only thing in the profile; the rest of the fields are left blank. I wonder if a software routine could be developed that would check for new profiles by city to catch these fakes? It might be bots creating them,.
I don’t bother reporting fake profiles because that’s not my job. If A4A can’t technically figure out how to decrease the numbers, I don’t log into A4A to monitor the [fake] profiles. (Though, I log into A4A less and less as the population is now heavily skewed to the over 40/50 crowd.) The sad part is that fake profilers target lonely, non-self-aware individuals.
“the population is now heavily skewed to the over 40/50 crowd”, honestly think it’s the other ay around as A4A seems to be catering to the under 40 crowd.
65% of our users are 18-35
Skewed to the 40/50 crowd? There must be another A4A out there you’re using. Most of the profiles I see are young guys. And even many of the older guys on here are claiming to be younger.
Maybe you’re confusing A4A with Facebook. ♂️
Well Andrew your ass-u-mption is wrong. A young (HOT) friend of mine has the same problem with the fake ads from Sedgwick County, Kansas and other scammer areas. So the “40/50 crowd” slur you use doesn’t hold water. Let’s hope you never have to worry about the 40/50 thing!
Gotta admit, I didn’t read this article…but I did envision Scooby-Doo unmasking the imposter with Fred & co’s mouths agape.
How about getting rid of the damn bot profiles on here? We all know who they are (they’ll message you with the “wink” emoji – nothing else; & about the only thing in their profile is a screen name & age – the rest is blank).
