What’s your favorite LGBTQ series, guys? Also, did you already watch Hulu’s Love, Victor? If you loved that one, you are bound to like this one as well. But Love, Victor’s Season 3 is still less than two months away, their last season in fact; its premiere is on Friday, June 15. So, while waiting for it, we can binge on Netflix’s upcoming series called Heartstopper.

Heartstopper is an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age drama set at an all-boys British grammar school. It follows the story of Charlie Spring (played by actor Joe Locke) as he navigates high school life along with his friends. But life is never simple, so how could Charlie’s be any different? Not when he became friends with his “straight boy crush” Nick Nelson (played by Kit Connor). Watch Heartstopper’s trailer below:

Heartstopper is an adaptation of Alice Oseman’s bestselling graphic novel. Oseman will also serve as the show’s writer while Euros Lyn will be directing. The latter is well-known for her popular British shows, the likes of Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Black Mirror.

“I feel incredibly lucky to get to work with a team of passionate, creative people who all adore Heartstopper and want to make it the most beautiful show we can,” Oseman said in an interview with Deadline last year. “It’s a joy and an honour to get to re-tell Nick and Charlie’s story for TV and I am so excited to share it not only with Heartstopper’s existing readership, but also a whole new audience around the world.”

And here is the series’ official blurb straight from Netflix:

When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever relatable journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.

Heartstopper will premiere on Netflix this April 22, 2022.
