Sometimes you’ve just gotta have faith.
Movie lovers and fans of the late singer and songwriter George Michael out there, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s an upcoming movie titled Last Christmas (2019, Feig) inspired by Wham!’s 1984 hit song of the same name.
This holiday love storyfollows the life of Kate (played by Emilia Clarke), a young woman who once dreamed of becoming a singer but life happened, so now Kate’s working instead as Santa’s elf at a novelty shop in London. There, she meets Tom (Henry Golding), a kind and optimistic man who helps Kate rediscover her cheer. Would the two be able to find love this Christmas? I guess we’ll have to wait for the answer until Last Christmas’ debut in theaters on November 8.
The romantic comedy film also stars Michelle Yeoh, Patti LuPone, and Emma Thompson who co-wrote the script with Bryony Kimmings.
Last Christmas features George Michael’s and Wham!’s greatest hits like Faith (1987), Waiting For That Day (1990), One More Try (1987), Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (1984), and Heal The Pain (1990) to name a few. Of course, the film’s album includes the title track as well as a previously unreleased and never been heard before song called “This is How (We Want You To Get High).” According to Paul Feig, the movie’s director, the new song was taken from the album that George Michael was working on before he passed away on Christmas Day in 2016. Feig described the new song to BBC News as: “a very celebratory song, I would dare say.” He added, “And we were able to play the entire song, which is almost six minutes long, in the film.”
Happy viewing!
Okay, I saw a plug for a movie exploiting George Michael’s music, but where is thus unreleased song? Is it performed by him? Shameless marketing I’m afraid.
it will be in the film….did you read the post?
No. He’s angry. And he’s too good to read. He knows everything.
fake news just like msn…misleading title but nothing to back it up….if you are going to talk about an unreleased track then play the track.
let me shorten the post for those too “busy” to read ir.
So the post is about a movie that id based off a song by Wham! called “last Christmas”. It will have a bunch of songs by both Wham! and George Michael. including a song from a record he was working on before he died.
before you say anything. look it up on the internet. find out for yourself. then if you can give proof. come back and tell us. Time we start thinking for ourselves and not be sheep.
This isn’t ‘news’ so it can’t be fake. If they played an unreleased track then it wouldn’t be an unreleased track anymore, would it Einstein?
No one reads the posts, just the mis-leading headlines.
not misleading
Just marketing and the media doing their thing .. create controversy, something sexy, to suck you in. Here it’s a matter of what the hook “unreleased” really means.
Title of the article is misleading, bait and click
Up front it sounded like just another sappy movie with a pop/gay connection. (yawn)
But if Emma Thompson bought into the script, it must not be a waste of the precious minutes of the holiday season.
I want to see it, plus I am attracted to Asian men. But, they don’t like me…..LOL, oh well.
That was easy…….
LOVED George Michael…! That Headline got my attention – now I really want to see this movie after reading the SHORT article accompanying it.
(BTW – how anyone could see that as misleading is beyond me!)

I know right….
lots of angry guys …
Just watch the freakin’ movie when it comes out. Nice way to honor George Michael. I’m very grateful.
Sure are a lot of bitches on this post, I think people need to find a life and something to do besides sit at a computer and bitch. Now, as for me, that’s my one and only post. Bite me bitches.
Being a huge fan of George M, this is a film I would still go see featuring a soundtrack of completely unrelated music. After watching the trailer, the two forms of media are strong enough to be delivered separately…yet together, brings about something unique.
That said, claiming this is exploitative of him and/or his musical legacy is premature & unwarranted, at the very least.
Numerous top recording artists–legends–have companion films inspired by their own music. Seeing it potentially happen for him now, at the 3 year mark of his death, is pretty f*cking amazing.
