George Michael’s posthumous song titled This Is How (We Want You To Get High) which will be played during the closing credits of the upcoming romantic comedy film Last Christmas (2019, Feig) is here!

Last Christmas (2019, Feig) is inspired by Wham!’s 1984 hit song of the same name. It stars Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Patti LuPone, and Emma Thompson who co-wrote the script with Bryony Kimmings. Thompson said that she had Michael’s blessing for the film prior to his death. She described the singer as the “loveliest guy you can imagine” during her recent guesting on The Tonight Show. “All of these themes in the movie, he was passionate about homelessness, he had this great social conscience, he was so lovely. I got really enthused and we started to write and then he had that tragic early death in 2016 on Christmas.” She added, “I miss him so much and I wish he was here because I know he’d love it.”

We know that you guys are excited so we won’t keep you waiting any longer than you already have. Check out This Is How (We Want You To Get High) below which comes with a lyric video.

According to Rolling Stone, This Is How (We Want You To Get High) was written in 2012 and recorded in 2015. The magazine describes the song as having an “upbeat vibe, but leans on heavier topics in the lyrics.”  The Guardian, on the other hand, thought that the song is very 2000ish, poignant, and with a “lovely ambient coda” for an ending.

It has been almost three years since George Michael’s untimely death on Christmas Day in 2016 at the age of 53.
