Director and writer Dan Levy not only helmed the project but also showcased his multifaceted talent by taking on a central acting role in the production of this film called Good Grief.

Good Grief follows the story of Marc who is grieving the loss of his mother. He sought solace from the anguish of his mother’s passing by immersing himself in a secure relationship with a charismatic, affluent, older gentleman. Yet, with the sudden demise of his spouse, Marc’s universe shatters, compelling him and his two closest confidants to undertake a transformative journey. Together, they confront and reconcile with the accumulated grief he had long avoided.

In a star-studded ensemble, the cast features Daniel Levy who play the role of Marc, bringing depth and nuance to his character’s emotional journey. Ruth Negga shines as Sophie, Himesh Patel takes on the character of Thomas, while Luke Evans embodies the persona of Oliver, each contributing distinct perspectives to the narrative. The ensemble further boasts talents like Celia Imrie as Imelda, Arnaud Valois portraying Theo, and David Bradley as Duncan. Dan Levy is a Canadian actor, writer, producer, and television personality best known for co-creating, co-show running, and starring in the popular television series Schitt’s Creek. Born into a family with a background in the entertainment industry, Levy began his career in television as a host for various MTV Canada programs. However, he gained widespread recognition and critical acclaim for his work on Schitt’s Creek, where he played David Rose, a role for which he won several awards, including an Emmy Award.

Apart from his acting talents, Levy has showcased his writing and producing skills on the show, leading it to become a beloved series known for its humor, heart, and character development. Beyond Schitt’s Creek, Levy has been involved in various other projects, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to storytelling.

Good Grief premiered in select theaters on December 29, 2023, and subsequently became available for streaming on Netflix starting January 5, 2024.
