Sam Smith just dropped a new single, guys, it’s titled Diamonds and it debuted at number 3 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart!
Billboard described the song as a “heartbreaking track, juxtaposed onto a deliciously synth-y beat,” while Rolling Stone thought Diamonds was “electrifying.”
Apart from the new single and its accompanying music video, Smith also announced the date of the release of their upcoming third studio album, Love Goes, which they said is due to arrive this October 30, 2020 through Capitol Records.
Love Goes was originally scheduled for release last May 1 but the date was pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Smith “felt it necessary to be sensitive to the evolving situation” and added that they would “continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions.” One such change was renaming the album (it was formerly called To Die For), Smith explained that the timing and title of the project didn’t “feel right.”
Smith said in a statement on Instagram:
<blockquote>I’m extremely happy and overjoyed to announce my third album (I can’t believe I’m saying that) ‘Love Goes’. This album marks a time of experimentation and self discovery in my life. I wrote this from the age of 26-28 and it’s been one hell of a ride. I hope the people who listen to it enjoy it and love it like I have and do

Listen to these songs with an open heart, treat each song like a different flower from the garden and have fun with them. I tried not to take myself too seriously when writing a few of these songs and I hope they make you smile because they made and make me smile. After it all I still believe love is the answer.Love Goes will feature collaborations with various artists such as Burna Boy, Labrinth, Normani, Calvin Harris, and Demi Lovato.
