Back in 2014, Jason Collins made waves when he came out and becoming the first openly gay player in the NBA. Today, Collins is in the news again but for a less happy reason.
In a tweet he posted on March 24, the former NBA player revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19. Collins believes he caught the virus while attending the Brooklyn Nets Pride night game. He says he got a “terrible headache” on March 11 and then started coughing and got a fever a few days later.
Read his tweet below:
I tested positive for COVID19. I believe I got it while on a trip to NYC at the beginning of the month for the Brooklyn Nets Pride night game. I had my first symptoms on Wed Mar 11. Terrible headache. A few days later I had a fever and then the cough.

Collins also asked his followers to “stay safe and continue to social distance” and thanked healthcare workers, hailing them as the “true heroes on the frontline.”
Collins is the latest celebrity to join the ranks of those infected with COVID-19. Other celebrities that have tested positive for COVID-19 include Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, Daniel Dae Kim, Placido Domingo, Andy Cohen, Aaron Tveit, Olga Kurylenko, and Kristofer Hivju.

The second “Revelation” is a bit more ‘climatic’ as it has some relevance and merit? In any case, once the Plague subsides, neither his revelation of his sexual orientation or his bout with Corona will be remembered…
Andy Warhol got it right, the first time: we all need our 15 minutes of fame…only to then, disappear, into the woodwork like the other grains did.
How is it all of these celebrities have no problems getting tested because of mild symptoms yet the rest of us are supposed to just stay home and not bother healthcare professionals?

All the teachers I know had exposures back in the November/December time frame. Sick for a couple of day, and most didn’t even take time off work. Now the world is supposed to go under house arrest for a sniffle. Go figure
