Back in 2014, Jason Collins made waves when he came out and becoming the first openly gay player in the NBA. Today, Collins is in the news again but for a less happy reason.

In a tweet he posted on March 24, the former NBA player revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19. Collins believes he caught the virus while attending the Brooklyn Nets Pride night game. He says he got a “terrible headache” on March 11 and then started coughing and got a fever a few days later.

Collins also asked his followers to “stay safe and continue to social distance” and thanked healthcare workers, hailing them as the “true heroes on the frontline.”

Collins is the latest celebrity to join the ranks of those infected with COVID-19. Other celebrities that have tested positive for COVID-19 include Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, Daniel Dae Kim, Placido Domingo, Andy Cohen, Aaron Tveit, Olga Kurylenko, and Kristofer Hivju.
