Beloved reality-TV personality, real estate agent, and flight attendant Chad Spodick, best known for his appearance on Logo’s 2016 gay dating show Finding Prince Charming, has died at the age of 42. Multiple sources confirm that his passing was “sudden and heartbreaking.”
According to a statement posted on a GoFundMe page organized by friend Kate Werbowski on behalf of Spodick’s mother, the loss has left those closest to him in deep mourning. “Our hearts are shattered,” the message begins, describing Chad as “beautiful, kind, and generous son, brother and friend.” The post goes on to recall how he “poured himself into others,” always encouraging friends to grow, believe in themselves, and stand up for their own worth. His love for animals was also highlighted, especially his devoted care for his four dogs and his bird, Cosmo.
At this time, no official cause of death has been released. The GoFundMe campaign was established to assist his mother with funeral arrangements and ongoing living expenses, as well as to support the care of his beloved pets.
Finding Prince Charming was billed as the first all-gay dating show. The program, hosted by former NSYNC member Lance Bass, featured 13 men vying for the affections of bachelor Robert Sepúlveda Jr. Its format echoed shows like The Bachelor, but offered representation for gay viewers.
Spodick was among the contestants and made it to the sixth week of the show, putting him within a handful of finalists before he voluntarily withdrew. His time on the show drew attention, and after its airing, he remained connected to fans and the LGBTQ+ community through social media and personal advocacy.
Friends, former castmates, and fans have flooded social media with tributes. One comment on his final Instagram post read: “Pure soul with a huge heart. You will be missed, my friend ❤️.” Loved ones recounted his gentle spirit, reliability, and warm personality. Meanwhile, on the GoFundMe page, Werbowski noted, “The world was brighter with Chad in it, and those who were lucky enough to know him felt the warmth of his heart every day.”
His colleagues from the airline and flight-attendant community also expressed sorrow and support, remembering him as a hopeful, caring presence — one who genuinely lived by compassion and empathy.
As grief and shock reverberate across fan communities and those who knew him personally, the fundraiser aims to ease the financial burden on his mother, and to ensure his pets — his beloved dogs and bird — are cared for in his memory. Many are sharing memories and stories, honoring Chad’s life not just as a reality-TV alum, but as a man who genuinely uplifted those around him.
For now, the mystery around the cause of his death remains. But what endures is the kindness and warm heart he brought into so many lives. For more information, read here.
May Chad’s soul rest in peace, and may those who loved him find comfort in the memories he leaves behind.

Still Warm but already forgotten?
So sad, so young!!!! My condolences goes to his family and friends.
SAD, especially around the Holidays. Hopefully he died knowing that he was LOVED and cherished by lots of PEOPLE 🙂
This sounds like another C-19 Vaxx death… sudden, unpredictable, in a population which wholeheartedly embraced the madness.
I got it, and several boosters. And yet I’m still alive. It’s almost like you’re full of bullshit.
Don’t worry about NotNelly, John. NotNelly is one of those outwardly facing anti-vaxers (or a bot) who secretly has the vaccine. Much like being in the closet. Same old tired story.
I could tell just from his user name that he’s psychically damaged goods. She doth protest too much. Far from worried, trust me.
No, it sounds like drugs or suicide, nothing else.
Engaging in rampant speculation when you have no evidence does nothing but make you look like a fool.
Sadly, the way this story has now been reported in dozens of media outlets (the lack of details “after an illness” or “after a brief hospitalization”, etc.), suicide is a reasonable assumption. He had multiple career endeavors, no reports of a partner(s), he checked all the boxes when it came to looks, he was generous and outgoing, he had business endeavors … all the trappings of success. Perhaps he was never able to find substance. Or perhaps he made a mistake he just could not admit or overcome. And sadly, those so hurt as to see suicide as their only… Read more »
Part of having compassion is not engaging in speculation about the deaths of strangers. You should try it sometime.
The post was compassionate. It came from remembering that the anniversary of a well loved coworker (who was much like Chad Spodick) pulling the trigger on himself is coming up.
And sadly, a few days since the report of his death, the police have released a statement that they believe his death came by suicide. The case remains open.
My Condolences to All!
I have no idea who he is, that being said I feel for his family…
lol begging for $35,000 on a GoFundMe is so embarrassing. If you don’t have the money, cremate him or put him in a pine box. How have people become so shameless as to think that they can just crowdsourcing fundraiser for something as banal as a funeral?
My mother told me “never beg from strangers,” even though I need to, too.
Okay?
Lots of people have too much money.
A girl can never be too thin, too rich or have too many black dresses!
Agree. I am tired of Everyone and Anyone thinking pandering for money and creating GoFundMe accounts are a good look. Not participating. Why should His Mother or his pets be of my concern? Not my problem. What I do have a problem with is people attempting to elevate these individuals to Sainthood status when there are so many unanswered questions….suicide? bad drug fix? sex hook up gone sideways? I only have so much compassion and the same goes to Family who I have blood ties with but for a stranger………..hard pass.
He never asked to be considered a saint and you’re not entitled to know how he died.
Who?
Why?
Something about reality tv and influencing seems deadly. Maybe it’s having no shield, no privacy, attracting bad energy.
TRYING to COMPENSATE for LOTS of things missing from their empty lives USUALLY 🙂 Not a TOTAL assumption but SUSPECTED!!!! 🙂
