A loving world starts with a loving home.
OREO has a partnership with PFLAG guys, it’s called Proud Parent, “a long-term campaign shining light on the importance of a supportive family in fostering greater LGBTQ+ acceptance,” CNN reports.
As part of their campaign and in celebration of the LGBTQ+ History Month—which is this month of October, by the way— OREO and PFLAG have produced a limited edition rainbow cookie.
It’s not for sale to the general public though. According to a spokesperson for OREO who spoke with CNN, the rainbow cookies will be awarded to fans as a “reward acts of allyship for the LGBTQ+ community.”
Interested allies and members of the LGBT community can join in on the fun by posting their photo that shows what allyship means to them on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #ProudParent + #Giveaway. The giveaway began on October 12, 2020 and will end on October 31, 2020 or when all 10,000 Rewards have been claimed.
We went to Twitter to take a look at the entries and below are some of our favorites. One of them said that being a #ProudParent means showing up and speaking out while a particular mom shared:
“Having been raised Mormon, being a #ProudParent means turning our whole belief system upside down in order to be advocates and allies for our pan son and bi daughter, despite severing relationships with family and friends. Couldn’t be prouder.”

OREO and PFLAG also released a short film titled Proud Parent that “tells the story of love, family ties, and celebrating authenticity, while championing the notion that a loving world starts with a loving home.”
Proud Parent shows the challenges that the LGBTQ+ community faces when bringing a partner home for the first time. According to OREO, Proud Parent “highlights the true importance of family love, support, and affirmation.”

Meanwhile, Billy Porter took to Twitter to applaud the work that OREO and PFLAG have been doing especially the film. He said:

It looks “Lean-With-The-Cream”?
I’d like more cream “In-Between”!
An Oreo Cookie is like a Canoli…
it is all-about-the-cream!
The more-the-merrier…so the more cream…so the merrier is the consumer!
There can never be-too-much-cream!
I for one am tired of being pandered to!
I don’t need a damn cookie to define me!
Damn str8! Why the hell does everything have to be politicized?! Thank god for it not being available to the public, keep politics out of cookies just like they shoud keep it out of sports! Its annoying.
Not about you then. They’re about those who might like gay-defined cookies. Yknow those others that we universally love unconditionally, no matter what color their cookies.
IM VERY PROUD TO BE GAY. AND IAM NOT ASHAMED OF IT EITHER.
It’s just another “capitalism move” not totally convinced a 100% of their motives concerning ‘us’.
I agree, but at least people are talking about us, and kids see these cookies and can tell themselves “oh it’s ok to be gay, the cookie brand loves me” so I like that
This is the same company who parterned with Supreme. Anything to get publicity or money.. which is fine, but it is all pandering.
tek:
You correct…
Money, Money, Money…makes the world go ’round…
It is, also, the root of all evil… .
The color green reigns supreme!
Ugh!
