According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the total number of monkeypox cases reported worldwide has now climbed to over 18,000. The latest number, which came out this Wednesday, is from 78 countries, mostly in Europe (70 percent) and in the Americas (25 percent).
It can be remembered that WHO declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on Saturday. WHO also noted that “98% of cases outside the countries in Africa where the virus is endemic have been reported in men who have sex with men,” Reuters reports.
In light of these data, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus advised the public that the best way to protect themselves against infection was to “reduce the risk of exposure.” He explained, “That means making safe choices for yourself and others.”
Further, he said, “For men who have sex with men, this includes, for the moment, reducing your number of sexual partners, reconsidering sex with new partners, and exchanging contact details with any new partners to enable follow-up if needed.” Read more about this story here.
Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the U.S. announced on Wednesday that they’ve cleared 786,000 additional monkeypox vaccine doses for immediate use.
Xavier Becerra, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, said in a statement, “Aggressively responding to the monkeypox outbreak is a critical priority.” He added, “H.H.S. is working to make these doses available to states and jurisdictions as soon as possible to fulfill their needs and will announce allocations tomorrow.”
According to the New York Times, the U.S. has confirmed 3,600 cases since May, and the number is “among the highest tallies in the world.” They describe the figure as “almost certainly an underestimate.” Read more about this story here.

Stay healthy and stay safe, guys!
I for one am staying home Election Day for fear of contracting Monkey Pox
The fuckin’ vote by mail, man, like I do here in south Florida, it’s available countrywide, isn’t it?
Gays, stop having random sex for 1-2 months so we can put an end to this. If this keeps spreading it also mutates and will try to jump to heterosexuals and then we will have the next pandemic just because some people cannot keep it in their pants for a while. Remember, watching porn always beats reality in satisfaction!
No, it does not, it’s just what you make do with, as a means to survival on multiple levels.
I bet you fell for the lock up for 2 weeks to stop the spread. Gullible much?
It will not ‘jump’ to heterosexuals. The way that will happen is a man who likes to have sex with both another man and a woman will do so, and that is how she will get it, and if she is married, she will take it home to HER husband – and – if the man she was with, is also married, he will take it home to his wife, also. Not only that, but if either of those women like to have sex with another woman, then they will pass it on to the other woman, too, who if… Read more »
Thank you for stating this. Too many are caught up thinking this as a ‘gay disease’…but just like HIV it will explode on the rest of society if everyone lets their guards down because they’re ‘not gay’.
Its also good to remember that this is NOT an STD. So it might spread even faster than HIV.
the video by silversteele is very helpful in showing that while monkeypox is painful and inconvenient, it is not like COVID or chronic like HIV/AIDS. the smallpox vaccination program stopped in 1972 for the general population (in 1991 for the military). so, gays over age 50 do not need to rush out to line up for the vaccine… priority should be given to guys under age 50.
Stop spreading misinformation based upon little or no data…the studies about whether someone has been previously vaccinated for smallpox (presumably prior to 1972) are inconclusive, although some data suggests some amount of immunity may still persist and be active against monkeypox. It is too early to tell how much and for how long earlier vaccination remains effective against present strains of monkeypox. The newer monkeypox vaccines are directed more toward current strains and one should probably get “re-vaccinated” when the vaccine is made available to them. I was vaccinated as a child and just last week got the first dose… Read more »
the vaccine was mandatory until 1972. you do not need it again…. you should already have lifelong immunity.
Do you or anyone have any scientific data to prove this information is 100% factual?
Yes… and I will add that I am a physician board certified in public health.
Taken from the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/considerations-for-monkeypox-vaccination.html: “How previous smallpox vaccination may affect current recommendations for JYNNEOS and ACAM2000 during the monkeypox outbreak Previous smallpox vaccination does provide protection, but it may not necessarily be lifelong. During the 2003 monkeypox outbreak and during the current monkeypox outbreak, several people who were infected with monkeypox had previously been vaccinated against smallpox decades prior. During this monkeypox outbreak response, vaccines and other medical measures should be given to eligible people who were previously vaccinated against smallpox, following the same schedules as for those who were not previously vaccinated.” Being a physician and certified… Read more »
Hmmmm…I see a duck…QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!
Yep, and just how I felt/feel about HIV/Aids, ain’t have it, so I just masturbate when the urge strikes.

Nice of this man to share his story. I wish him the Best and hope that healing continues for him.
Be Safe Guys.
Just more fear porn for the gullible and slutty.
TRUTH!
Agree. The evolving hysteria is palpable.
OH NO! It’s the new boogy man virus! STAY INSIDE LOCK YOUR DOORS! Stupid fags will believe anything your liberal media tells you. Heaven forbid you actually think with something other than your dicks.
First, it was/is The Spector called “Covid-19 & Omicron”! Now, it will be “Monkeypox” as the fear and trepidation of the Aforementioned – is no longer on the “Tip-of-the-American Public’s Tongues”! The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus’ Healthcare proceeds to the next stage of hysteria and mayhem! Healthcare needs its own “Stimulation Checks” and what better way to stimulate income than to declaring that “Monkeypox” will become the next Plague of America! Alarm the “General Public,” guard the Children, Elderly and the Immune-Suppressed who will soon invade the hospitals, overload the staff, crowd the halls, sweat the departments, nuclearize the… Read more »
When will adam4adam start including fields in profiles so members can list their monkeypox vaccination status and date of vaccination like we can for covid? I hope this is actively being worked on and will be rolled out soon. Shouldn’t be that hard.
Yes, it would be welcomed for A4A to allow members to espouse their vaccination(s) against Monkeypox but, it cannot be a mandate and so, only the most honest; the most moral and the most ethical will fill in their status.
The provision asked is only effective if members abide by the reason for it and to honor its purpose?
And also don’t lie. It’s not like A4A requires proof of ANYthing.
i would assume a4a may do this only when the monkeypox vaccine becomes mandatory for everyone
