“Sexual relations of a man with another man, which is punishable by five years imprisonment in a hard labor camp… if there is the slightest truth in that report… nobody can protect you then.”
How far would you go for love, guys?
This is what the trailer of this film got me thinking while I was watching it. I was intrigued as Firebird is reportedly based on a true story, not to mention it is set in the 1970s Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Its official synopsis on YouTube reads:
“Based on a true story during the Cold War, Firebird follows a handsome, soulful young soldier who embarks on a clandestine sexual affair with a charismatic fighter pilot on an Air Force Base in occupied Estonia at the height of 1970’s Communist rule.”
Firebird stars British actor Tom Prior who played the role of Sergey Serebrennikov. Sergey is a young private conscript in the Air Force who wishes to be an actor someday. He was weeks away from freedom, dreaming of college life in a drama school somewhere in Moscow.
Enter fighter pilot Roman Matvejev (played by actor Oleg Zagorodnii). Both of their lives have never been the same since their meeting. Their chemistry was off the charts, but a same-sex love affair’s future means spending many years of their life in a hard labor camp. Would they risk it?
Directed by Peeter Rebane, Firebird also stars Diana Pozharskaya who played the character Luisa, Nicholas Woodeson, who played the role of Colonel Kuznetsov, and Kaspar Velberg, who played the role of a pilot named Selenov.
Anyway, if you love movies that feature handsome soldiers and sexy fighter pilots, then this gay historical romantic drama is for you. Unfortunately, Firebird is not currently available for streaming on Netflix but you can watch it on other streaming platforms like Apple TV, ROW8, Redbox, Prime Video, Vudu, and FlixFling. Happy viewing!

Agreed. More hate for the East vs. the West where Gay guys are the victims. How about some triumph over adversity? How about a story where some young light skinned hot military guys fight their way to an accepting country and live happily ever after? Better yet! Maybe they are older and of another skin color(s)??
But no. On A4A it’s always about misery for the poor light skin guys. A4A’s marketing team could easily do this screenplay. Such things aren’t not rocket science.
Alas!
an early grave?
can i touch these two hunks, please?
after we ride in plane, they ride my ass, honey?
as the plane remains in flight or on its way down?
in flight of course, if it goes down for whatever reason, i hope it’s just a dream .. btw, why do i have “-2” hates on my posting, honey? what did i ever say to deserve that? i just wanted to touch those two hotties!
You have those who would never post because they have nothing to write, but they can click the + or -.
It gives whomever a momentary sense of accomplishment and relevance?
Maybe just too much a response that sounded immature? Or too stereotypical Gay? Not sure, but that could be why.
thanks for your input, i was just being funny and coy if anything else, just to add some humour to the thing .. i do think those two guys are very hot indeed tho, i mean, wouldn’t you too wanna frolic with them in the COCKpit of the plane after all, honey?
