Warning: Spoilers ahead for Superman: Son of Kal-El
Earth has a new Superman, Jon Kent, and he is set to come out as bisexual in the fifth installment of DC Comics’ Superman: Son of Kal-El serieswhich is due out on November 9, according to a statement released by DC Comics.
In Superman: Son of Kal-El series written by Tom Taylor and artist John Timms, Jon Kent officially take up the mantle of the Man of Steel.
Jonathan Samuel Kent is the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, he is 17 years old and he clearly already has a lot on his plate at such a young age. Even before he was born, the superheroes—his father’s colleagues—already have huge expectations of him: “Jon Kent could be the best of us” and his birth was described as something that is “as powerful as hope.”
So far, Jon Kent is living up to expectations. And truly, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Not only do father and son share the same powers, they also have the same type: reporters.
Yep, Jon Kent’s love interest is a reporter by the name of Jay Nakamura. I won’t go into details about how they became friends (as to how they’ll become lovers we will know on issue 5) because that will be revealing quite a chunk of the plot. But I have read all the issues they have so far and all I can say is that it is a great read so if you are into comic books, then you might want to grab a copy and read it.
Writer Tom Taylor said in DC’s press release: “I’ve always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea.” Taylor added, “Superman’s symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics.”
Moreover, artist John Timms said, “I’m incredibly honored to be working beside Tom on the SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL series showing Jon Kent tackling his complex modern life, while also saving the world from its greatest threats, villains and menaces.”
Meanwhile, DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee said that they couldn’t be prouder to tell this important story from Tom Taylor and John Timms. He added:

We talk a lot about the power of the DC Multiverse in our storytelling and this is another incredible example. We can have Jon Kent exploring his identity in the comics as well as Jon Kent learning the secrets of his family on TV on Superman & Lois. They coexist in their own worlds and times, and our fans get to enjoy both simultaneously.

Superman: Son of Kal-El series was launched this July 2021.
Happy reading!
Wow… I have mixed thoughts on this one. As a child of the Sixties l first met the real superman played by American actor George Reeves while watching black and white reruns, Reeves played Superman from 1952–1958 in the television program “Adventures of Superman”. Let’s just say he nicely showed off his assets dressed in his tight fitting outfits to the delight of both women and men. Sadly George died under questionable circumstances at the age of 45 from a single gunshot to the head. To this day, his death still remains a controversial subject. While the official finding was… Read more »
“I personally (IMHO) think the gay community should stop stealing and rebranding people, hero’s and stories in an attempt to “normalize” being gay”
That’s about what I said, however our “unbiased” moderator refused to post it. It’s sad that that the gay community forces this nonsense demanding to be accepted.
TOTALLY AGREED!!! To extend it further into music, its also sickening how sooo much of ‘OUR GENERATIONS’ music is sampled into current music and these untalented fucks win bigger awards than the orginal music. It really started with Sting gave ‘rat bastard Puffy’ the rights to use his music to honor ‘crack dealer’ Biggie Smalls. Anyway, back to comics, why can’t the ‘gays’ come up with their own sht…because they’re too busy spinning around using their brain cells on dumb sht like trying to convince us they’re another gender. Sex in a comic has never been the high point in… Read more »
Always thought that Superman Reeves must have been Superhung to keep Toni Mannix interested. As a kid, we always thought that superheroes were at least bi… Like Batman never rubbed Robin? Yeah, right. But agree this rebranding crap has to stop. Its lame to put it mildly, and seems to promote that idea that Superwhoever is nothing but a soap opera queen. I want masculine men, and not some touchy-feely wimp in my fantasies. Next we’ll see Conan the Social Worker FFS.
Though Batman in a assless chaps might be a good look….
Yet another reply denied by the moderator. A shame that one censors free speech
Yep, I was even shocked that my post got through.
You do understand that “free speech” doesn’t apply to private entities, right?
I think he doesn’t…….
I do understand completely, you it seems don’t understand that again one cannot hold a conversation without BOTH sides being represented. Is that hard for you and Barry to understand? Like it or not Dave YOU censor comments YOU disagree with.
I dont, I’m just censoring yours, because they’re always negative and mean.
There is no “rebranding” here. This is a younger, next-generation Superman meant to appeal to readers who were born long after George Reeves died. There is no reason to expect that the Superman of 2021 should be an imitation of the 1950’s character.
Infatuation by adults of the sex life of a comic book character is comical.
Infatuation by adults of the sex life of a 17 year old boy is disturbing.
Great post!
I could see Superman being bi-sexual.
