Calling all Adam4Adam blog readers!
We invite you to take part in the REALM Study, a groundbreaking initiative designed to gather essential data on the mental health of LGBTQ+ individuals living in small cities and rural areas of the United States. This study, led by public health e researchers from Johns Hopkins and Emory University, aims to improve mental health resources and services for LGBTQ+ communities in areas where access to mental health care can be limited. Your participation in this research could help shape future mental health programs and ensure they are more inclusive and accessible.
For your participation, you will be asked to complete five surveys over the course of one year. Each survey contributes valuable information that researchers will use to better understand the challenges LGBTQ+ people face in small cities and rural settings. In return, participants can receive up to $100 in electronic gift cards (your choice of Amazon, Walmart, or Target). There’s also an additional $20 for completing a follow-up survey in year two, focusing on using a mobile app for mental health support.
Why is this study so important?
LGBTQ+ communities in smaller cities and rural areas often experience higher levels of stress, isolation, and mental health challenges like depression and anxiety compared to their urban counterparts. They also struggle to find access to providers who understand their needs. The lack of specialized mental health providers, combined with fears of discrimination, makes it harder for LGBTQ+ individuals in rural settings to access the care they need. Worse, some are discouraged from seeking help when they need it due to these challenges. The REALM Study is crucial because it seeks to address these gaps in care.
The REALM Study is designed to identify these specific challenges and develop interventions that can make a difference in LGBTQ+ people’s lives. The REALM Study aims to bridge this gap by collecting data that can help improve the delivery of mental health services for LGBTQ+ communities in these areas. By participating, you will be helping researchers understand the unique challenges that small cities and LGBTQ+ individuals in rural America face, ensuring future public health efforts are inclusive and effective, ultimately leading to better resources and care for future generations.
Join the REALM Study and make a difference today! Remember, you can help shape future mental health programs and ensure they are better equipped to serve LGBTQ+ communities. Click here.
reading the survey reminds me of someone on the precipice of suicide?
True. Remember that “The Community” promotes that everything is more difficult if a person is LGTBQ+. Mental health, employment/income, healthcare, life in general … even recently by a Politician, in how LGTBQ+ individuals needed to be prioritized in response to the recent hurricanes because they were already “disadvantaged” more than the general population. So of course “The Community” would want everyone to think LGTBQ+ individuals were more susceptible to mental health issues than any other social group. And, of course, those LGTBQ+ individuals in rural areas were more woefully lacking in mental and health care than the general population. If… Read more »
But it is true, and gay men earn less than women or minorities.
This survey is ridiculous , instead of all the alphabet of gender it should start male / female, then the list, and assigned at birth , you come out of a stretched out cooch with a penis, male , a vagina, ? female, and it’s downhill from there.
welcome to the realities of gay culture & the media in 2024. the survey makes up look pathetic and deserving of pity. it is marketed and sellable!
for as many categories as can be created, will be as many marketable and sellable units!
As ridiculous as the photo used for it.
There’s definitely a higher incidence of mental illness, personality disorders among gay men, and definitely among trannies.
true but that is not indigenous to homosexuality; it becomes indigenous to the society and how it reacts to homosexuality and homosexuals?
I am just sick to know, 25% of the homeless in B.C. are kids from the gay community
Met a bunch of rural (farmer) guys at parties over the years. Funny, not a one of them looked like the “rural” guy in the picture here. Wherever he is, if that’s what guys look like it’s time to pack up and move from the city!
