We’re already on the third week of the first month of the year 2022, guys, but in some parts of the world, the New Year is yet to start. We are, of course, speaking of the Chinese New Year, which will occur on Tuesday, 1 February 2022, wherein a symbolic animal represents each year.
In the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar, the Year of the Metal Ox—which started on 12 February 2021—forecasted good fortune and hard work. It is now drawing to a close on Monday, 31 January 2022. Its end will signal the arrival of the year of the Black-Water Tiger starting from February 1, 2022, and it will run until January 21, 2023.
There will be a 15-day festival to welcome the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year. It will start on the New Year’s Eve, January 31st, and it will end on February 15th, during the Lantern Festival. The occasion is also known as the Spring Festival, and is celebrated as a public holiday in several Asian countries like Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, North Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Brunei, and The Philippines. Reportedly, the Tiger is “known as the king of all beasts in China.” In addition, the “zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness.”
