The incident occurred early Thursday morning, August 21, around 5:50 a.m. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed receiving a call about a nude man walking in the street in the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard.
A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed receiving the call to Entertainment Weekly when reached for comment on Thursday, but could not identify Lil Nas X by name. The spokesperson also said the suspect was arrested for charging at a police officer.
“This morning, around 5:50 a.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Ventura Blvd for a nude man walking in the street,” the spokesperson noted in a statement. “Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.”
Born Montero Lamar Hill in Lithia Springs, Georgia, Lil Nas X rose to fame in early 2019 with “Old Town Road,” a country-rap crossover that went viral on TikTok before dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for a record-breaking 19 weeks. Known for his bold artistry, flamboyant performances, and unapologetic embrace of his gay sexuality, Lil Nas X has been celebrated as one of the most influential young artists of his generation.
At just 26, the Grammy-winning musician has become a cultural icon, pushing boundaries in both music and fashion. Beyond his hit singles, his 2021 debut album Montero received widespread acclaim for blending pop, rap, and rock influences with deeply personal lyrics. Fans have been anticipating new music, as the star has teased that he’s been working on a follow-up project set to drop later this year.
The hospitalization and arrest have shocked fans and the music industry alike, as Lil Nas X has often been candid about his struggles with fame, mental health, and public scrutiny. The full circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, and it is not yet confirmed what substance may have been involved in the possible overdose.
Representatives for Lil Nas X have not yet issued an official statement. Fans have taken to social media to express concern and support, with many urging compassion and privacy during what is likely a difficult time for the artist.
Here’s how fans have been reacting on X since the incident:
One Twitter/X user wrote, “Oh sweet baby, I hope Lil Nas is okay. These naked and alone in the street videos almost always equal mental health or medical emergency happening.”

He has shared that he is struggling mentally. Hopefully, he will seek in-patient psychiatric intervention before he joins the infamous 27 Club….

yo, as the black community says yo can take ’em out of the jungle yo can’t take the jungle out of ’em
That’s not what is said, but rather, “you can take the African out of Africa, but you can’t take the African out of the man.”
And that, is never clearer about any ethnicity. Ask tRump, lmao.
yo, a variation of the same theme “you can take the ‘coon from the jungle but you can’t take the ‘coon anywhere
Praise Be The Lord/Lord Have Mercy!
I’ve always heard it said as “You can take the Blax out of the ghetto, but you can’t take the ghetto out of the Blax”.
yo, the truth can be said in mo’ ways than the devil!
Same can be said, for those of Caucasian or any ancestry, who came out of poverty. I’m a Minnesotan, here in South Florida, for that reason, it’s been a culture-shock across the board actually.
I’ve always heard it said as ” you can take the white trailer trash from the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer trash mentality from the whites”.
too much chemsex
You can ONLY help those who want to be HELPED ~~ hope he realizes he NEEDS help.
Hanging with too many white boys. Hopefully he will learn
yo, a little white bread time to time ain’t so bad
Too many of the wrong kind, agreed.
He’s a lost young man. I sure hope he gets help. Mental illness is no joke.
I can fix him. Or. at least try.
What a cutie. He looked good in those tighty whities and white cowboy boots…
yo, always looks better with a little white
Why is this news? Are we supposed to care about this weird, self obsessed, queeny boy just because he’s gay? He has created his own problems. He has to deal with the consequences. Sorry, I have better things to do. Not my problem!
Having empathy for your fellow man costs you nothing
Too much fame. Too much massive income.
In too short a time, Without anyone in his industry guiding him through what those first two things have done to countless artists, actors, sports players, etc. for decades.
I don’t believe he “created” his problems. They’re the results of “Sudden Fame Syndrome”.
I want to see the uncensored video. He got fully naked i think.
