Los Angeles — Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X (Montero Lamar Hill) has broken his silence following a harrowing episode that saw him hospitalized for a possible overdose and jailed over the weekend. Speaking directly to his fans via Instagram, the 26-year-old rapper described the incident as nothing short of “terrifying.” Still, he reassured everyone, saying: “Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all… That was f—ing terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be alright.”

The ordeal began early Thursday morning, when police found Lil Nas X wandering Ventura Boulevard in just underwear and cowboy boots. After allegedly charging at officers, he was taken to a hospital under suspicion of overdose before being transported to LAPD’s Valley Jail section in Van Nuys.
At his arraignment, the rapper pleaded not guilty to four felony charges—three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer—and was released on $75,000 bail. A judge also mandated that he attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings as part of his release conditions.
Lil Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, echoed his son’s sentiment and emphasized that he is remorseful: “He’s very remorseful for what happened. He’s going to get the help that he needs,” he told reporters.
When asked to describe their first talk after the incident, his dad said, “It was awesome. Awesome. We shed tears. We shared laughter. But he’s in great spirits. He’s gonna be great. Like I say, God is good.” Legal counsel also urged fans not to judge the rapper by his worst moment, suggesting the incident could have been triggered by substance use or emotional stress.
Bursting onto the scene in 2019 with “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X has become known for blending genres and for unapologetic queer self-expression. His debut album Montero (2021) scored multiple hits, and he followed up earlier this year with the EP Days Before Dreamboy. The next phase of his music era—his second studio album Dreamboy—is highly anticipated for late 2025. Read here for more.
